Neighborhood members can get most over-the-counter medicines for free with a doctor’s prescription.

         

RIte Care - Extended Family Planning Benefits:

Gynecological Services:

  • One comprehensive gynecological “annual exam” and up to three additional family planning method related office visits if indicated.
  • Laboratory testing (Pregnancy testing; Annual Pap Smear; STD screening if indicated; Anemia testing, dipstick urinalysis, and urine culture if indicated.)

Gynecological Procedures:
(Covered benefits are limited to the following office/clinic/outpatient procedures if indicated):

  • Colposcopy, and cryosurgery or other cauterization of the cervix.
  • Tubal ligation.
  • Treatment for genital warts.
  • Norplant insertion and removal.
  • IUD insertion and removal.
  • Incision and drainage of a Bartholin’s gland cyst or abscess.

Prescription and Over-the-Counter Family Planning Methods:

  • Limited to twelve 30-day supplies per year.
  • Covered contraceptions include oral contraceptives, contraceptive patches, intrauterine devices (IUD), Norplant, cervical cap, diaphragm, and Depo-Provera.
  • Covered over-the-counter methods include foam, condoms, and spermicidal jelly.
  • Emergency contraceptive pills, as needed.

Follow-Up Treatment:

  • Gynecological services, laboratory testing, procedures, and pharmaceutical supplies needed because of problems with a covered procedure or service.
